How I Work With Leaders

AI Governance, Assurance, and Executive Decision Support

These are not products. They are leadership interventions.

Every engagement exists to answer one question that boards and executives are increasingly accountable for:

“Can we explain, defend, and stand behind our AI decisions?”

Organisations come to me when AI ambition has outpaced governance, when accountability is unclear, or when leaders need confidence that their decisions will stand up to scrutiny — regulatory, operational, or public.

The services below are not linear.

They are selected based on risk exposure, organisational maturity, and leadership responsibility.

AI Trust Assessment

Complimentary

A fast, leadership-level diagnostic to surface AI trust, governance, and accountability gaps.

This assessment is designed for senior leaders who suspect risk but lack a clear, structured view of where AI exposure actually sits across the organisation.

This answers:

  • Where do we have AI risk without ownership?

  • Where are decisions being made without governance?

  • Where could we be challenged — and fail to respond confidently?

Outcome:

A clear signal on whether further leadership intervention is required — and at what level.

This is often the starting point.

AI Accelerator

AI Accelerator

From £2,500

A focused leadership intervention to define one defensible AI value-creation opportunity.

The AI Accelerator exists to prevent a common failure mode:

multiple AI initiatives, no clear ownership, and no defensible outcome.

This engagement aligns leadership intent, operational constraints, and governance realities around one priority use case.

Outcome:

  • One clearly defined AI initiative

  • Agreed ownership and success criteria

  • A leadership-approved roadmap that can be defended

This is the most common next step once risk is visible.

Rapid AI Proof of Concept (POC)

Evidence Before Commitment

From £5,000

A controlled validation of AI value — without creating unmanaged risk.

This is not experimentation theatre.

Every Rapid POC is run with explicit leadership oversight, defined boundaries, and pre-agreed success and failure criteria.

Outcome:

  • Evidence of value (or clear evidence to stop)

  • Governance considerations embedded from day one

  • A confident decision point: scale, pause, or walk away

Used when leaders need proof — not promises.

Best for:

Leaders who want evidence before committing to scale.

Work With Us
Fractional CIAO (Chief AI & Assurance Officer)

Ongoing Leadership & Assurance

From £1,000 per day

Embedded senior leadership to provide continuity, governance, and confidence.

When AI responsibility is fragmented — across IT, data, security, legal, and operations — accountability fails.

As a Fractional CIAO, I operate as a trusted, independent authority supporting executives and boards with:

  • AI governance and assurance

  • Board-level decision support

  • Risk, compliance, and oversight

  • Translation between technical teams and leadership

Outcome:

Clear ownership, confident decisions, and reduced leadership exposure.

Best for:

Organisations scaling AI without an in-house senior AI governance leader.

AI Governance & Leadership Package

Board-Level Reset

From £20,000

A comprehensive assessment of AI maturity, governance, and organisational readiness.

This engagement is designed for boards and executive teams who recognise that AI has reached a point of material accountability.

Outcome:

  • Clear understanding of current AI maturity

  • Identification of governance, risk, and leadership gaps

  • Executive-level recommendations

  • A defensible path forward aligned to leadership responsibility

This is often the intervention that resets confidence at board level.

Best for:

Organisation operating AI but starting to lose confidence and trust.

AI governance is not about control.

It is about confidence.

If you are accountable for AI decisions — personally or organisationally — the right question is not “What should we deploy?”

It is: What can we stand behind?

Request a Confidential Leadership Conversation

This is not a sales call.

It is a senior-level discussion about accountability, risk, and next steps.

2017 - 2024

MOD Corsham

AI Vulnerability - Human Machine Teaming →

James’s insight, research depth, and practical knowledge of Cyber Security Architecture and Artificial Intelligence were instrumental in the development of the MoD’s Cyber Mission Data Capability. As the Ministry of Defence’s first AI Product Manager, he defined the doctrine and operational concept, and successfully led a multidisciplinary team of over 65: engineers, data scientists, architects, and support staff drawn from both civil service and industry partners.

This multi-million-pound programme delivered new operational insights, reduced manpower demands, generated measurable impact across MOD cyber defence, and critically validated the human–machine teaming model for vulnerability management and cyber risk assessment. James’s leadership ensured the programme moved beyond experimentation to sustained operational value.
